The day trust is born, hope is there.

Welcome to PLAN's 2005 Accountability Report, covering the year April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005. This Accountability Report is PLAN's means of holding
itself accountable to those who matter most: our members, the people we serve,
our staff, facilitators, funders, network members and community supporters. It provides a transparent view of the organization, reporting on both successes and challenges in a balanced and candid way.

This 2005 report builds on the 2002 Accountability report, which was a milestone publication for PLAN. The board of PLAN implemented the social audit to ensure
that the values around which PLAN is so carefully constructed are maintained
long into the future. It represented a coming of age for an organization that started
with a handful of families in the lower mainland of British Columbia 14 years before. These trail blazing families created an organization that today gives hope to
families around the world.

PLAN is known as a pioneer and our 2002 Accountability Report represented
another step in creating a new path. To our knowledge, PLAN was the first not-
for-profit organization in Canada to have an externally reviewed social audit.

Undertaking a social audit has strengthened our organization. We learned a
great deal about what we do well and what we must learn to do better. Following
our 2002 social audit, PLAN’s Board of Directors set targets to achieve by 2004
and to guide strategic planning. In our 2005 Accountability report, we report
on those targets.

This completes the cycle of the social audit process. We look forward to receiving your comments and insights on the process in order to increase our learning and strengthen our future actions.
