Welcome to PLAN's 2002 Accountability Report, covering the
year April 1, 2001 to March 31, 2002. This Accountability Report is PLAN's means of holding itself accountable to those who matter most: our members, the people we serve, our staff, facilitators, funders, network members and community supporters. It provides a transparent view of the organization, reporting on both successes and challenges in a balanced and candid way.

This is a milestone publication for PLAN. The board of PLAN implemented
the social audit to ensure that the values around which PLAN is so carefully constructed are maintained long into the future. It represents a coming of age
for an organization that started with a handful of families in the lower mainland
of British Columbia 14 years ago. These trail blazing families created an organization that today gives hope to families around the world.

PLAN is known as a pioneer and our Accountability Report represents another step in creating a new path. To our knowledge, PLAN is the first not-for-profit organization in Canada to have an externally reviewed social audit.

Undertaking a social audit has already strengthened our organization. We
have learned a great deal about what we do well and what we must learn to do better. We look forward to the next phase of the social audit process which relies on your comments, queries and suggestions regarding this
Accountability Report. We are counting on your insights to strengthen our actions and to create an even better Accountability Report in 2004.

Please contact us with any feedback you might have about PLAN's 2002 Accountability Report.
